saved my $400 mattress
I bought my girls twin mattresses and since they were a gift from their grandparents, I got them decent Sealy mattresses since they'd be sleeping on them for at least 15 years. Although neither of my girls are bed-wetters I decided to play it safe and buy mattress protectors. After doing some research I chose the BedGuard mattress protector because it is both waterproof and absorbent (it is vinyl with a terry top layer). Last night my daughter woke up crying, I went in to have found she had soaked her bed as well as sheets and blanket, having an accident. I pulled the bedding off and discovered that the Waterproof mattress pad had done its job. Even with everything soaked, the mattress is perfectly new. I am thrilled to have made the right choice.
I have thick mattresses and the mattress protector fits perfectly and does not make noise when you lay on it.

a decent mattress cover at last!
I was visiting family and one of the young kids gave up his bed for me. I noticed the mattress cover - it fit well and felt soft under the sheet. The little one is also a bed wetter and I was told that the cover has protected the mattress and is hypoallergenic as well. When I got home, I decided to order covers for my household and look forward to receiving them - especially for bed bug problems. I've used covers in the past and they either don't fit well or aren't comfy...nice to find ones that do what they say they will.
Must Have for Parents
These are a lifesaver for parents. They make potty training much easier. You can transition from pullups to nothing faster because the invariable accidents just result in extra laundry as opposed to a urine soaked mattress. I put one on our bed as well. Not only because the monsters sneak in in the middle of the night, but because they are skin cell and dust might proof (or at least resistant). Think about all the oil and dead skin that soaks into a mattress after a thousand nights! Less gross with one of these.
